Stian is a 36 years old from Ås outside of Oslo. He is now opening an exhibition at a pop-up gallery at Tjuvholmen where he exhibits several of his works.
The exhibition is from March 7 - April 7.
With a love for comics from when he was a little boy, combined with a bachelor's degree in graphic design, it's no surprise that the style he loves is Mixed Media Art. What started it all was a strong desire to recreate the imaginative Disney characters as a little boy. Capturing the magic on paper. This evolved with the age of other comics and styles, and especially the graphic expressions used in the music industry captured his interest.
Stian's parents constantly received messages from the school about a son who drew and dreamed for hours, but over time he channeled his eagerness and focus on school. At age 14, he began with graffiti, which has played a major role in the development of his expression. In 2004 the education started as a graphic designer, which gave him even more tools to use. Stian made the first work for himself and that's how it started. An acquaintance saw it, and had to buy it. Since then, the snowball has rolled bigger.
In his works he uses different materials such as epoxy, gold leaf, cutouts in acrylic and luminous foil. He mixes the colors himself from base colors, and he likes the idea of not having any specific recipe. The motifs in the works have a distinct significance for Stian, and there is a message in each of them. What that message is he chooses to leave it up to each one.
